It is kind of funny, in a dark way, that Treyarch chose to mess with the most hardcore players by making the final Dark Ops challenge in Black Ops 7 literally called "Touch Grass", and if you are already thinking about going for it you probably know you could just pay for something like CoD BO7 Boosting instead of losing your weekends. The name pretty much says what the devs think of people chasing this card. You are not asked to hit some ridiculous trickshot or outplay a whole squad on your own. What you are signing up for is a test of how long you can keep grinding before your brain taps out. It feels less like a challenge and more like a dare aimed at the people who refuse to leave anything locked in the menus.


The Real Requirement
Once you look at what the game actually wants, it starts to feel a bit unreal. You have to hit "Weapon Prestige Master Max Level" with 30 different guns. Not just unlock a few attachments or camo tiers. Every single one of those weapons needs to reach level 250. In older COD titles, you would max a weapon in a few evenings of decent play; here, that is barely the warm‑up phase. Now imagine doing that 30 times over. The XP demand is ridiculous, and the Dark Ops card that shows a skeleton lying in a field of grass is not subtle at all. It is basically the game saying, "Yeah, if you are chasing this, you are going to be here a long time," and that joke starts to sting a bit once you hit weapon number 12 or 13.


The Launch Weapons Trap
The nasty part, and the thing a lot of people almost missed, is that only launch weapons count for progress. Streamers and stats nerds dug through it and found that guns added in Season 1 or later, or any DLC weapons, just do not move the counter. So you can put weeks into a new rifle, hit 250, and then realise the Touch Grass tracker has not shifted at all. That is the sort of thing that makes people uninstall. If you are planning to go for it, you basically have to lock in early and stick with the original day‑one arsenal. No wandering off to test the fun new toy from the latest update unless you are happy treating that as pure side content with zero payoff for this challenge.


Multiplayer Tag, Zombies Grind
What makes it even stranger is how the challenge lives in the menus. It is flagged as a Multiplayer Dark Ops challenge, but because Black Ops 7 links progression across modes, you do not actually need to live in regular PvP lobbies to tick it off. You can sit in Zombies queues, level weapons there, and still end up with the same calling card at the end. You will see people flashing a Multiplayer badge while barely touching traditional MP, which feels wrong on paper but kind of fair in practice when the grind is this heavy. Once players realise they can farm in a more chilled mode with fewer rage‑quit moments, a lot of them just shrug and take the efficient route.


Is The Reward Worth It
When you finally look at what you get for all this, you can see why the community is split. The reward is a Universal Calling Card with that relaxed skeleton on the grass, and the theming is spot on, but it is not a flashy camo or anything people will notice mid‑match. You do not get a reactive skin that changes as you stack kills, and there is no wild mastery effect on your guns, just a profile item that only shows up when someone checks your card. It ends up feeling less like a flex and more like a quiet signal that you were stubborn enough to finish what most people ignore.
